Praying for Paws is a non-profit dog rescue group that is dedicated to helping homeless dogs in the Henry County, Georgia area. We focus on larger dogs but have a large variety of breeds, such as German Shepherds, Border Collies, Beagles, terriers, hounds, and many beautiful Labrador Retrievers. Our biggest needs are adoptions, foster homes, volunteers, and donations.

Featured Dogs

Buddy
Buddy, or Golden Buddy
as he is listed on our website (to avoid confusion with another adoptable dog named Buddy) is sad and confused. His previous owner moved and did not take Buddy with her. He has always lived indoors and is extremely well-trained and an overall great dog! He knows several commands and has a great personality. Buddy is looking for another home of his own that will be permanent this time. He is a purebred Golden Retriever and is patiently waiting for you . .

Ruby
Ruby
is such a sweet girl! She was dumped at our facility last year, and she had obviously not received much care during her previous life. Despite her ordeal, Ruby loves all people! She is so affectionate and wants to interact with her caregivers constantly. Ruby knows how to “sit” on command also.

She does well with other dogs, as long as they are not overly-active and stay out of her “space.” Ruby has not seen much activity on our website, and we would love to place her in a great home of her own very soon. She is definitely a jewel, as her name implies. Please give her a fresh start today!

Volunteer / Wish List

Praying For Paws is looking for active volunteers to:

  • Provide foster homes
  • Walk / exercise the adoptable dogs
  • Assist with applications as needed
  • Work at adoption events
  • Bathe or groom dogs

  • Attend volunteer planning meetings

We also strongly encourage you to volunteer at the Henry County Animal Shelter. They need volunteers to walk and socialize the dogs, bathe and groom them, post information on www.petfinder.com, call rescue groups and clean the cat cages.

Praying for Paws offers many ways to volunteer at our facility. Adults who are 18 and older should email us to set up an orientation and dog safety training program.
